We have a new studio. After 28 years on Coxe Ave., we have moved to a new location in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC. We are sharing space with my long-time friend, documentary photographer Ralph Burns. He has maintained a darkroom and gallery space there for years where he has produced and showcased his many wonderful photo projects. I am grateful that he has been willing to share this space with me going forward. We are in the colorful Pink Dog Creative building at 344 Depot Street, inside with the arts studios in Suite 106. Enter the building at Suite 101 entrance, then we are the first space on the left. We hope you will pay us a visit. There is free parking along the street or in the large parking lot across the road. If you do not have an appointment, please call before stopping by to make sure we are in, as many jobs take us out on location. If you need an updated business portrait, or your art or craft work documented, we are once again able to offer our full range of photography services, now in air-conditioned comfort!
The always fantastic Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands is coming up next week. You’ll find wonderful arts and crafts from the region’s top artist and craftspeople, so whether you are shopping for your home or for a special gift, you are sure to find something beautiful and unique at the fair. For additional details and hours, visit their website, www.southernhighlandguild.org/craftfair/
If your summer plans include trips to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park or the Blue Ridge Parkway, we hope you will consider one of our best-selling guidebooks, Blue Ridge Parkway Vistas or Great Smoky Mountain Vistas. These newly updated books provide valuable information on where to go and what to do in and around these national treasures. They also include the unique component of mountain peak identifications, so when you drive into an overlook you will know what you are viewing and have a better understanding of where you are in our beautiful mountains. These, and all our titles, are available in our store. For your enjoyment, included here are a few images from our upcoming (fall release) book, Jewels of the Southern Coast: Architectural Gems of Charleston, Savannah and Beyond.
If music is something you crave, then consider the upcoming LEAF Downtown Festival in Asheville in August. This will be the fourth year of this event, organized by the people who have been running the semi-annual LEAF Festival held in Black Mountain for over 20 years. This event will run August 19-20 and will range from performances by international music groups as well as placing an emphasis on local artist. It is free and open to the public.
In the meantime, if we can help you with any of your photographic needs, give us a call!
